Catamaran charter in Croatia: how to choose the right one
Catamarans are the majority of our Croatian fleet — 30 of the boats we list — and for good reason. Two hulls mean the boat barely heels, everyone gets a cabin with a door, the draft is shallow enough for the quiet anchorages, and the deck space turns a sailing holiday into something a mixed group actually enjoys. They also cost more than a monohull of the same length and are harder to squeeze into a busy town quay in August.
Match the size to your group, not your ambition
| Length | Cabins | Comfortable for | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 38–40ft | 3–4 | 4–6 adults | Cheapest way into a cat; easy to handle and to berth. |
| 42–45ft | 4 | 6–8 adults | The sweet spot for families and two couples plus kids. |
| 46–50ft | 4–5 | 8–10 adults | Genuine saloon and cockpit space; berthing needs experience. |
| 50ft+ | 5–6 | 10–12 adults | Usually chartered with a skipper, often with a hostess. |
The number a charter operator advertises is berths, not comfortable guests. A four-cabin catamaran sleeps up to ten if you count the saloon conversion and the skipper's bunk; it is a pleasant week for eight. If you are close to the limit, go one size up rather than filling the saloon.
Catamaran or monohull?
| Catamaran | Sailing yacht | |

| Heel under sail | Almost none | Noticeable, part of the fun |
| Living and deck space | Much larger | Compact |
| Anchoring in shallow bays | Excellent, shallow draft | Good |
| Marina berths in August | Harder and dearer | Easy |
| Best for | Families, mixed groups, non-sailors | Sailors, couples, tighter budgets |
Where to start from
Our catamarans are based around Split, Trogir and the Šibenik area. Split gives you the shortest transfer from the airport and immediate access to Brač, Hvar and Vis. Trogir is fifteen minutes from the airport and calmer on a Saturday changeover. The Šibenik bases put you a short hop from the Kornati national park, which is the quietest sailing in central Dalmatia.
Booking without the guesswork
Charter weeks in Croatia run Saturday to Saturday, and the good catamarans for July and August are gone six to nine months out. Pick your week on the fleet page and we confirm the boat with the operator before you pay anything.
